The beginning

Puppy days

Teach lead manners and calm handling early. Protect developing bones with supervised free play and rest, avoiding forced endurance exercise or children climbing on the puppy.

Your everyday

Adult life

Provide regular walks and secure room to stretch out and run. Maintain dependable manners, and plan household space and transport around the dog's actual adult size.

Everyday care

Brush the rough coat regularly, more than once weekly, and maintain nails. Daily exercise needs secure space that accounts for a large hound's pursuit instincts.

Worth planning for: Gentleness does not make them rideable; children must never climb on this dog or use it as a pony.
